Dan Ladd: New York’s Crossbow permit system going well for those who can’t shoot a vertical bow

With archery seasons approaching, I have had numerous recent inquiries on the street and from readers alike about the current crossbow situation in New York.
Many continue to ask if legislation had passed earlier this year allowing those over the age of 60 to use a crossbow during the archery season. As we previously reported, it was not brought to the floor. However, what can be built upon – at least for hunters with impairments – is the program DEC expanded upon last year called “Reasonable Accommodation To Use an Unmodified Crossbow During the Regular Bow Season.”
