A West Virginia man landed a state record channel catfish in his home state July 21 on his 3-year-old daughter’s $9.99 pink Zebco rod. Tyler Rutherford was fishing with his daughter for bluegills at his father’s pond in South Charleston when he reeled in the 43.51-inch-long, 46.70-pound behemoth – beating the previous record by more than 9 pounds.
