The number of counties with cases of CWD-positive wild deer continues to grow in Wisconsin with Waushara County joining the list in April with a 3-year-old buck found dead in the town of Wautoma in February that tested positive for the disease.
The buck was within 10 miles of borders with Marquette and Portage counties and, as a result, the DNR renewed a baiting and feeding ban already in place for Waushara County. Marquette and Portage counties currently have a three-year ban in place from positive detections within each county, so the Waushara County positive test will not impact those counties.
