Decisions on CWD regulations forthcoming in North Dakota

Big-game hunters in North Dakota are awaiting a decision from the state’s governor regarding chronic wasting disease regulations for the upcoming season. Among the question marks is whether or not baiting will be allowed in Unit 2B. (Photo courtesy of NDG&F)

North Dakota Game and Fish Department officials have forwarded their Chronic Wasting Disease Proclamation to Gov. Doug Burgum and have indicated a recommendation to lift baiting restrictions in deer hunting Unit 2B. This decision is in response to sampling goals being met and no positive CWD cases being found there.
The NDG&F enacted baiting restrictions in 2B in 2022 following the discovery of CWD in a white-tailed deer harvested near Climax, Minn., just a short distance from the North Dakota border.
