Michigan to receive $1.7M to remove barriers, build fish passages

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is investing $1.7 million in three projects in Michigan – to replace undersized road-stream crossings and remove a dam.
The Midwest Region will see $26 million from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. These funds will be distributed between 10 projects across Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Missouri and Ohio.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)’s designation of PFOA and PFOS as hazardous substances underscores the agency’s commitment to addressing serious threats posed by per and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) chemicals to public health and the environment. The designation comes under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), commonly known as Superfund.
