Michigan to receive $1.7M to remove barriers, build fish passages

Across the country, millions of dams and other barriers are fragmenting rivers, blocking fish migration and even putting communities at higher risk of flooding. (Stock photo)

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is investing $1.7 million in three projects in Michigan – to replace undersized road-stream crossings and remove a dam.
The Midwest Region will see $26 million from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. These funds will be distributed between 10 projects across Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Missouri and Ohio.
