Backyard and Beyond: Gray squirrel defends its nest from hawk

Nick D’Addio watched a squirrel try to defend its nest.

The last thing a mother gray squirrel wants to see is a red-tailed hawk landing near her nest, intent on feasting on her babies. Nick D’Addio caught the action as a big hawk menaced a squirrel, then flew off with one of her offspring.
