In Kentucky, the state’s Senate recently considered a bill to move the Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources from the Governor’s Tourism Cabinet to the Department of Agriculture.
Senate Bill 3 also would’ve given Agriculture the ability to appoint the members of the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Commission. With the recent close of the general session, the bill effectively died, but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t re-emerge.

Michigan hunters are keenly aware of the hunter surveys taken annually by the DNR. Many hunters lament the fact that they never receive a survey “on anything” from the DNR.
Well, here is your chance to participate in a deer management survey, but you better hurry because the deadline to comment is April 16. DNR is surveying all Michigan residents (not just hunters) on its website about deer issues important to them.
Warmer days are ahead for the weekend and that should definitely turn on the bite across the area.

The youth turkey season is fast approaching in Ohio (April 13-14) and it is absolutely one of my very favorite times of the year.
Turkey hunting is my passion, and as the father of a young hunter, it allows me the opportunity to get in the turkey woods a bit earlier than I normally would as I get to take a youngster hunting and help introduce the kid to the wonderful world of the spring turkey hunting.

Paint Creek Lake in Highland and Ross counties in southwest Ohio is unique in that it drains a huge watershed.
