The Pennsylvania Game Commission board is expected to vote on a proposal to extend the firearms antlerless deer season through January in certain wildlife management units impacted by chronic wasting disease.
The idea was discussed at length during the board’s Jan. 26 meeting when it heard staff reports. At that time, Game Commission Deer and Elk Section Supervisor David Stainbrook said population trends in units where CWD is present are stable, and the harvest needs to increase.
