Minnesota legislators debate corn-growing on state lands as session resumes

The 2024 legislative session took a brief pause starting at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, as legislators had a long weekend for Easter. They returned to the State Capitol on Tuesday, April 2.
Even though it was short, there was a few committee hearings and a handful of bills were passed or laid over earlier in the week. There were also a few bills introduced and scheduled to have a hearing the first week of April as financial omnibus bills will be due later in April.

MN-FISH to meet with Minnesota DNR about Mille Lacs

A pair of angling advocacy organizations, led by the MN-FISH Sportfishing Coalition, sent a letter to DNR Commissioner Sarah Strommen a week ago citing their concerns about the 2024 walleye regulation for Lake Mille Lacs. The DNR recently announced that walleye fishing on the lake will be catch and release when the inland waters season begins May 11.
Mark Holsten, MN-FISH executive director, said there’s been conversation between the group and the DNR to meet soon, though they haven’t yet set a date.

In some references to Boone’s oft-quoted remark, “turned around” becomes “confused” or “bewildered,” and “three days” becomes “several weeks.” I suppose if you are ever that bewildered, three days can seem like an eternity.
