Simplifying duck identification using size and shape

Of all the types of hunting, waterfowl hunting may well be my favorite – it’s got all my favorite things like water, mud, cold and unexpected expenses. When it all comes together, few spectacles are more awe-inspiring than large flocks of ducks or geese landing within range.

Charter captains updated on Lake Erie walleyes, other topics at Ohio Sea Grant hosts 43rd annual conference

With an agenda similar to other years in the 43-year series, the 2024 Ohio Sea Grant Charter Captains Conference gave updates to those in attendance on March 2.
The 2023 Lake Erie fishing summary and 2024 forecast is always highly anticipated, which the Ohio DNR Division of Wildlife’s Lake Erie Sandusky Fisheries Research Station Supervisor Eric Weimer provided.

New wildlife-viewing platform open on Haldeman Island in Pennsylvania’s Dauphin County; not all happy with changes

A ribbon-cutting will be held this summer for a wildlife-viewing platform now open to the public on Haldeman Island on the Susquehanna River in Dauphin County.
The Pennsylvania Game Commission project, which was completed last year on the southern edge of a 360-acre waterfowl propagation area, provides birders, photographers, and other visitors with new opportunities to watch waterfowl and marsh and shore birds.
