Commentary: There’s science available to make decisions about Minnesota’s walleye bag limit. Use it

A story in the March 1, 2024, edition of Outdoor News described a seven-year debate over reducing the statewide walleye daily bag limit in Minnesota from six fish to four.
There are two important issues at hand. First, does the statewide bag limit need to be reduced? And second, and perhaps more importantly, why is this initiative being handled in such an unusual way?

Oak Duke: Examining the chasing phase of the whitetail rut

Pennsylvania Game Commission won’t renew lobbying firm contract after facing scrutiny

Facing scrutiny from state lawmakers, the Pennsylvania Game Commission said it will not renew a controversial contract it signed late last year with a politically connected lobbying firm.
Spotlight PA revealed the existence of the agency’s contract with Allegheny Strategy Partners, a lobbying firm run by former state Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati, in February. The commission defended the agreement as an effort to help it improve its relationship with the Legislature.
