Minnesota’s youth turkey season begins April 17, the kickoff to six weeks of excitement as the spring woods come alive.
These days, youth turkey hunts have become a common gateway experience to other hunting opportunities for young people. A generation or two ago, most young hunters cut their teeth on small game such as rabbits and squirrels, but as those traditions have waned, turkey hunts have become the standard bearer for new hunters. And for good reason.
