A look at North Dakota’s record-breaking midwinter waterfowl survey

Unseasonably warm weather and a lack of snow cover contributed to a record number of Canada geese observed by wildlife officials in North Dakota during the annual midwinter survey of waterfowl in the state.
According to Mike Szymanski, North Dakota Game and Fish Department chief migratory game bird management supervisor, more than 300,000 Canada geese were counted during the survey, far surpassing the previous record of just over 220,000 Canada geese.

“After dinner at my uncle’s house, we’d say thank you and gracefully depart after the dishes were done,” said Schneider, chuckling.
