Looking at an out-of-state big-game hunt in 2024? The time to plan is now

Once you’ve gone beyond state borders to chase deer, it’s easy to get hooked. January is a great time to start planning for the following fall's out-of-state hunts. (Photo by Bob Drieslein)

For most folks, deer hunting is about the last thing on their minds right now. Aside from having just finished up their deer seasons, the looming holidays suck up a lot of mental oxygen as we make sure all of the to-dos are taken care of.

As for crazy people like me, I’m already checking out next year’s fall calendar to see when I might pull my annual disappearing act. Once you’ve gone beyond state borders to chase deer, it’s easy to get hooked.
