What do retired law enforcement officers, former judges, active Environmental Conservation Officers, border patrol agents and even the Sheriff of Chautauqua County all have in common? Well, since the Sept. 13 launch of New York’s new background check system for buyers of both firearms and ammunition, all of the above have been initially denied an ammo purchase. The actual term is “delayed.”
And for what reason? That’s a question that nobody, especially in Albany, can even begin to answer.
