Across New York youth hunting seasons and special hunts organized and coordinated around them have been taking place.
In some cases, sportsman’s groups and Department of Environmental Conservation Police have pitched in to help get young hunters afield, often providing plenty of pre-hunt training and preparation. In others, especially the Columbus Day weekend youth deer hunt, young hunters were mentored by family or friends.
