Steve Carney: A Love and hate relationship with rod holders

Carney says there are times when rod holders are quite handy, including when you’re fishing waters where two lines are allowed, or if you need a break from all-day trolling. However, you won’t get “the feel” that you would by holding your rod in your hands. (Photo by Steve Carney)

I’ve always had a love-hate relationship with rod holders as I’ve used them on and off over the years, depending on the situation.
Here are my thoughts on rod holder use.
