Make your own fire-starters this camping season

To get started at making fire-starters, dig out an old cupcake tin and some candles (l), as well as an old frying pan (r). Be sure to save some of the wicks when melting the candles. Working outside, such as over an open campfire, is suggested. (Photos by Dan Ladd)

Our parents taught us not to play with fire. But under the supervision of an adult, there is an activity you can do at home (preferably outside) or at the summer campsite that can involve the youngsters on the trip, and that is making your own fire-starters.
