Time to lay the groundwork for deer habitat projects

I know I’m not the only one who nearly goes stir-crazy from winter, and I’m raring to go on my 2023 deer habitat-management projects.
Before starting, however, I’ve been spending my time assessing the management activities I undertook in the recent past, reviewing my notes from last deer season, and figuring out what types of management activities I can accomplish this year to boost my odds of success come fall.

For consistent early-season walleye success, expect the unexpected

When my phone vibrated in my pocket, I had a feeling it was my buddy and that he was going to tell me he’d found walleyes and the bite was on. It was my buddy, yes, but he was singing the blues, having fished all day with only a few small perch and a couple of skinny bass to show for his efforts. Projects enhance fishing opportunities in Pennsylvania’s state parks, forests

It’s no secret that Pennsylvania is home to more than 83,000 miles of rivers and streams and thousands of lakes and ponds – most of which are excellent places to go fishing for species such as perch, walleye, bass, and trout.
However, what might be lesser known are the diverse opportunities to enjoy the sport in Pennsylvania’s state parks and forests. In fact, 101 of the 124 state parks and all 20 state forests have bodies of water open for angling.

Michigan anglers have plenty of options when it comes to walleye opener

Michigan walleye anglers are blessed to have many great waters for pursuing this favorite sportfish.
The only place that might top Michigan is Minnesota, and Minnesota doesn’t have access to as much Great Lakes walleye fishing as Michigan anglers have.
In a winter like 2022-23, there were more opportunities to fish open water than ever.
