Threat to Lake Champlain looms as New York, Vermont fight invasive round goby

The biggest threats to Lake Champlain’s game fish, including Champlain’s markedly improved lake trout populations, may not come from well-known pests such as lamprey or alewives but instead from a small, non-native fish that has been slowly infesting waters closer to Lake Champlain.
Organizations on both the New York and Vermont sides of Lake Champlain are working to keep the round goby from getting into the lake, trying to educate those who enjoy the lake and its tributaries about the goby threat while they explore potential barriers to keep them out of the big lake.

Molly Tranel Nelson, DNR Parks and Trails Division regional resource specialist, offered a Minnesota bison status report along with future goals for the species. Officials say the state herd is now 150, with a goal of about 500.

Catch the lunkers of Neshannock Creek in Pennsylvania this spring

Neshannock arguably ranks among the top five trout streams in northwest Pennsylvania and should be considered in the top two dozen trout fisheries in the entire state.
The 2.3 mile-long, Delayed Harvest, Artificial Lures Only section, extending from the spillway, at the tiny burg of Volant, extending downstream to the Banks Covered Bridge, which crosses the creek on Covered Bridge Road, is managed as well as any DHALO-designated water.
