Big bluegills can be had in Minnesota! Here’s how to catch them

On lakes that hold them, there are a few things you can do to catch big bluegills. Some of those include using big baits (to keep pesky perch and little sunnies at bay), leaving bobbers at home, and fishing just after dusk. (Photo by Steve Carney)

Walleyes will always be my favorite fish to catch through the ice, but this season I’ve had a banner year locating and catching big bluegills. Catching good numbers of bluegills isn’t a big deal, but catching the big ones is another story. Here are some tips.
