Live bait (especially minnows) has always been a staple for crappie anglers. There is a common issue with using live bait, though, namely deep-hooking fish that you want to release or quickly unhook. This is where circle hooks come in. They not only make for quick, easy unhooking, they also hold fish better than conventional J-hooks and are great for kids because no hook-set is required.
