DISTRICT 1 CO Ethen Mapes assisted the Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Office in an off-road vehicle (ORV) pursuit that initiated when a deputy tried to arrest the driver on a felony warrant for flee and elude. Walleye bite is reportedly very good – although ice is still very sketchy.
Perch fishing on Lake Michigan has been excellent, particularly in the Cal Park area, with lots of boats out and lots of fish caught.
Spooler reels, or “inline” reels, help us in ways we don’t always think about when ice fishing. One of those ways is enabling us to slow down when we fish, which is so important for the bite some days. Here are some other reasons for using a spooler reel for ice fishing.
A look at the current ice conditions as we move through the middle of December. Northern basin lakes are seeing 5 to 10 inches of ice, Grahams Island/Zeibach area 5 inches and Creel Bay 8 inches.
