Oklahoma bear hunting bill heads to governor

Oklahoma City (AP) – A measure to legalize bear hunting in parts
of southeast Oklahoma is headed for Gov. Brad Henry’s desk.

The bill won final legislative approval Monday.

Governor’s spokesman Paul Sund says Henry has not yet reviewed
the measure, HB1464, and is reserving judgment on it.

The bill would require a license to hunt black bears which live
in hilly and mountainous eastern Oklahoma. Only 20 could be killed
in a year. The state Wildlife Conservation Department has drafted
rules for the proposed season.
