Minnesota’s “Build a Wildlife Area” partnership will dedicate a new 318-acre addition to the existing 400-acre Mud Lake State Wildlife Management Area this Friday, June 25. The WMA is located in Morrison County near Little Falls.

As part of the dedication, the partnership will turn over the land to the Minnesota DNR, thus opening the land to public hunting and recreation. The purchase is the result of a two-month-long fund-raising campaign by Pheasants Forever, Outdoor News, and Game Fair. Silver Bay, Minn. About two months after a fire destroyed much of the roof of one of the historic cabins at Tettegouche Camp, the cabin is back in service and open for guests.

Fire broke out in Cabin A on March 12. Thanks to quick action on the part of guests, an emergency plan, dedicated park staff, local volunteers, firefighters and rescue workers, the fire was contained and the cabin saved, according to Tettegouche State Park manager Phil Leversedge. Eau Claire, Wis. A Twin Cities man, Reynold L. Williams, of North St. Paul, as found dead June 14 at the scene of an apparent rollover ATV crash in northern Chippewa County in west-central Wisconsin.

Williams was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident due to head injuries. He was reported missing to the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department at about 8 p.m. that day. Williams owned property in northern Chippewa County.
