Voyageurs National Park, Minn. If you’re camping at Voyageurs National Park anytime soon, be aware that several campgrounds have been temporarily closed to give nesting eagles less disturbance while nesting.

Closed areas include the Skipper Rock Island houseboat site on Rainy Lake, the Sexton Island tent site and North Junction Bay houseboat site on Namakan Lake, and the North Granite Cliff tent site on Sand Point Lake. La Crosse, Wis. A June 9 public hearing in La Crosse will provide area residents with an opportunity to submit comments on a federal study and draft plan for managing the Upper Mississippi River in the future.

Wisconsin officials say this is an opportunity for state residents to support managing the river for ecosystem restoration as well as for commercial navigation, including devoting the $8.4 billion necessary over the next 50 years to fund that restoration work. Chatfield, Minn. The threat of severe weather forced the postponement of the May 22 Minnesota Trout Association’s Kids Fishing Day in Chatfield. The new date for the tournament is July 24, from 9 a.m. to noon, at Mill Creek Park in Chatfield.

At the event, everything is free and for kids 12 and under. There will be lots of prizes, food,and a great tournament in Chatfield’s Mill Creek Park. Registration begins at 9 a.m.

St. Cloud, Minn. The body of a 20-year-old Minneapolis man was recovered last Tuesday, a day after his canoe overturned on Silver Lake, Wright County authorities said.

Arthur Colberg, who attended St. Cloud State University, was fishing with a Sauk Rapids woman when their canoe overturned in about 27 feet of water. The woman was picked up by another boater, according to the sheriff’s office. Life jackets were in the canoe, but were not being worn at the time of the accident.
