Sandstone, Minn. A public hearing regarding Pine County Refuge No. 2 will be held on April 22 at 7 p.m. at the Clover Senior Center. The purpose of the hearing is to consider a proposal for abandonment of this state game refuge.

The refuge was established in 1946 by the commissioner of the Conservation Department (now the DNR). Since then, wildlife management concepts and wildlife populations have changed, and hunting opportunities have increased. Officials say the refuge is not longer needed for deer. Written comments on the proposal must be received by the Sandstone DNR office by
