Crossbow Bill

Posted on January 29, 2012

Anyone who is tracking the progress of Assembly Bill 384, known generally as the crossbow bill, might want to know that the bill is scheduled for executive session by the Assembly Natural Resources Committee on Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 9:30 a.m. If the bill makes it through committee, it will go to the full Assembly for review, and then on to the Senate. The bill allows the use of crossbows during all firearms seasons, including small game and elk, but it does not allow the use of crossbows during the archery deer seasons beyond the exemptions that are already allowed (handicapped hunters and those age 65 and older). There had been a strong push to lower the exemption age from 65 to 55, but that was not included in AB 384.
