Southeast Pennsylvania Fishing Report - December 7th, 2012

Posted on December 6, 2012

Lake Nockamixon (Berks County)

Channel catfish up to 20 inches were reported throughout November, with shrimp the ticket, although Superstorm Sandy slowed the bite.

Tulpehocken Creek (Berks County)

Good trout fishing was reported in recent weeks, with fish holding from the October stocking.

Lake Ontelaunee (Berks County)

Good crappie fishing was reported, with small jigs and minnows productive along Route 73.

Safe Harbor Dam (Lancaster County)

Anglers were catching striped bass, up to 24 inches near Conestoga Point.

Little Schuylkill River, Pine Creek, Locust Creek, Tuscarora Lake (Schuylkill County)

Numbers of fall-stocked trout were still in these waters. Shore anglers could fish the boat cove from the shoreline, although fishing pressure was extremely light. Small grubs, mealworms, and paste baits were taking fish.

Schuylkill River (Schuylkill County)

Large-minnow pattern lures were taking big brown trout in recent weeks.

Locust Lake (Schuylkill County)

Set for a stocking Dec. 11, this impoundment was still full of trout in late November.

Little Lehigh River (Lehigh County)

Normal conditions were reported just before Thanksgiving Day, although remnants of Superstorm Sandy put the kibosh on fishing pressure. A nice Blue-Winged Olive hatch was reported in the early afternoons. Anglers also were doing well on sucker spawn and San Juan worms midmorning.
