More than 1 million trout, salmon and walleye destined for state’s lakes, rivers and streams.
Nearly 3,000 acres protected in Rutland County, bringing the total publicly-conserved area to more than 3,600 acres — a key addition for the area and state, according to officials.
In response to trout decline, Fish and Wildlife implemented an experimental catch-and-release or “no-kill” restriction for the lower eight miles of the river. Adult anglers were also restricted to artificial flies and lures.
