System-wide harvest caps for the 2021 Winnebago system sturgeon spearing season are 430 juvenile females, 950 adult females and 1,200 males.
Lake Winnebago System sturgeon season starts Feb. 8.
The new regulations on inland waters will be in effect starting March 1; however, fishing for northern pike is not allowed on these waters until the fishing opener on Saturday, May 12.
The season as a whole was fairly successful, with spearers harvesting 847 sturgeon this year, exceeding the 703 sturgeon taken last year.
