The walleye bite on Lake Erie continues to be strong on both the Western and Central Basins with some of the bigger (28-inches and up) coming in the Central Basin off Cleveland.

Fishing pressure was light across much of the state in recent weeks as hot, humid weather prevailed.

In most fisheries across the state, water temps are in the 80s. But the bite is mostly fair to good for most fish species.

Extremely warm weather has hampered the bite, but with cooler temps reportedly on the way, that could change soon.

Work lakes that have a larger walleye population in them and key on low-light periods of the day and your odds of hooking more fish increases.

While targetting walleyes, we are often pestered by perch and bluegills. You just gotta keep moving until you find the walleyes.

Clearwater’s largemouth bass population is a definite draw among weekend and tournament anglers alike.
