Warm start to autumn stalls the crappie and bass bites, but catfish preparing to strap on the feed bag.

For some trout anglers, these are the best days of the entire year and come highly anticipated after a hot, dry summer.

The most recent DNR survey turned up 15 fish species, including 2,471 walleyes averaging 15.3 inches and 1,861 pike averaging 19.4 inches.
