Trolling action on the open lake has been good off the Orleans County waters at Point Breeze.

Shoreline and nearshore lake casting or small craft action has been good, mirroring the apparent strong numbers of brown trout.

Hookups here are coming on egg sacks or big-profile jigs or flies. Drifts or swings will need to be deep and slowed down for best chances.

Drifting opportunities are real good up and down the river course and some good steelhead have been hooked up by anglers plying the higher water.

Look for good drifting chances up and down the water course here now when flows are more drift-and-swing friendly and before any high water may return.

There are some hard-fighting fresh fish with an occasional 30-plus-inch fish encountered.

Conditions are good for fresh steelhead migrations here.

Look for good late-winter and springtime fresh steelhead action ahead.

There are a few anglers each day working the water, mainly at the dam, hooking up on what’s probably the resident recycled steelhead there.
