The lake trout bite has been solid, with good action in 70-120 feet of water.
According to one charter captain here, the “deep bite was lake trout for good action all day.”
One tactic for brown trout anglers is to work the stained Oak River plume when everything else is clear.
Open-lake trolling action has so far been all about onshore brown trout when there’s some stained and slightly warmer water to target.
There’s been some smallmouth bass action, real good at times, reported. A few bass are likely moving up the Oak, too.
When trollers have had reasonable conditions to get out here, the near-shore action for browns, lakers and cohos has been good.
Some anglers are making drifts and swings for spawning fish and having success by being patient in the fast-water gravel stretches here.
For now, there’s overall light to moderate fishing pressure in the Oak, with good action through the watercourse.
Anglers should find fish in the pools or at the dam and also staged around or on gravel spots here.
