It sounds as though walleye anglers are starting to transition back to minnows, although crawlers and crankbaits are still producing fish.

The walleye bite has been slower but you can still find a few here and there in the lake pulling cranks on break lines and flats from 17-8 feet of water.

Water temps and levels seem to be dropping at a number of fisheries across the state. As for what that might mean for the bite …

Some cooler weather, especially at night, has started to cool water temperatures and that should mean improved walleye fishing opportunities.

Water temps still near 80 in some fisheries? What might that mean for the bite?

Bluegills and crappies have provided the best opportunity to consistently put fish in the boat of late.

There’s a decent panfish bite in the main lake, and main river, especially because of the low water conditions.

The most-used word to describe the bite across the state these days: fair.

It’s an excellent multi-species fishery that’s noted for a consistently strong walleye population, with panfish, pike, and muskies providing excellent secondary angling options.
