A lot of guys like to drag jigs along the current seams in these conditions.

There was a big transition to nightime walleye and crappie activity over the past week.

Most fisheries seeing better ice, but it’s still iffy in a lot of places, too. What that’s meaning for the fishing pressure … and how’s the bite?

Despite an extended stretch of cold weather, walleye fishing has been about as good as it’s been all winter.

Anglers are starting to get out on some lakes.

Ice conditions are so-so, and the bite is about the same at a number of fisheries.

The morning and evening hours are best, but daytime walleye action hasn’t been that bad in many areas. It seems a combination of jigging spoons and deadsticks with minnows are both producing walleyes.

Many lakes across the state have opened back up again, pushing off ice fishing. But fish are being caught in the open water.

Crappies and bluegills seem to be biting more consistently than walleyes in areas people have been fishing to the north.
