New York Outdoor News Fishing Report – June 17, 2021
Out on the bigger lakes, the salmon and lake trout fishing should be productive.

Out on the bigger lakes, the salmon and lake trout fishing should be productive.

The bite for most species has been mostly good at fisheries across the state.

Anglers are catching some nice smallmouth bass a few northern pike, and an occasional muskellunge, on the entire length of the Allegheny River.

This is a great time to fish the shallows of inland lakes with fly rods and poppers.

Walleye limits have been standard in the Western and Central Basins with most anglers trolling crankbaits or casting worm harnesses.

After being blown off Lake Erie on Memorial Day weekend by gale force winds and high water, anglers are making up for lost time, catching walleyes from Toledo to Ashtabula.

The bass bite has been hot across a good part of the state. And the walleye bite remains solid on Lake Erie.

Anglers targeting walleyes, pike and muskies (especially in the Great Lakes) are just getting started.

Panfish are being caught on leaf worms and wax worms under a bobber. The largemouth and smallmouth bass action was good for those using live and artificial baits.
