The Tri-State area was holding some good bait and coho earlier this week, with action in the 60-80 foot range.
Lake trout fishing has been great in the 75-90 foot range for those that want to target them on Lake Michigan.
The coho bite here continues to be pretty good, but has been more hit or miss lately, with swings in weather and warming surface temps.
A yellow perch caught in the southern waters of Lake Michigan that abut Illinois set a new Indiana state record for the species. The catch, a jumbo perch weighing 3 pounds, 2 ounces, shattered a
Crappie and bluegill are biting very well in this area, and bass are in various stages of pre spawn and spawn patterns.
Coho fishing continues to be good all over this fishery, with most people reporting action from 10-40 feet, but a few deeper as well.
Improving Lake Michigan’s Chinook fishery was the goal of volunteers who showed up at Indiana’s East Chicago Marina to release three- and-a-half-inch-long salmon into pens built for the young fish.
