Preliminary data on the state DNR website shows hunters killed 38,886 wild turkeys, about 4,500 fewer than last year.

Harvest third highest on record, thanks likely in large part to a localized condition that happens only once every 17 years.

That’s up more than 1,500 birds from last year.
