He’s a 31-year fisheries veteran and current central region fisheries manager for the Minnesota DNR.
According to the DNR, the plan sets long-term vision and goals for the Lake Michigan fishery and establishes a process to continuously involve the public to seek alignment on shorter-term strategies and tactics.

It’s estimated that, in the 2011 fish take from over 246,000 lakes worldwide, 18.5 billion pounds of fish harvested.
The DNR plans to collect approximately 50 million walleye eggs from the fishery in 2017, resulting in 14 million fry for transfer to rearing ponds and direct fry plants throughout the Lower Peninsula.
If all goes well, biologists and technicians will release between 11 million and 12 million fish into the state’s lakes and rivers this year – a significant decline from the 20.9 million stocked in 2016
