The one-year-old doe was harvested in Greenwood township and is the first confirmed positive in Vernon County.

Missouri Department of Conservation mandating testing in effort to continue tracking how widespread the disease is in the state, and where the infected animals are found.

The Mineral Point farm has been quarantined but reportedly is still open because properly handled dead animals leaving the premises do not pose a risk of spreading the disease.

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Chronic wasting disease was not detected in deer tissue samples from Minnesota’s only currently quarantined farmed deer herd, in Crow Wing County, according to the latest test results involving the herd.

Sample comes back suspect, second sample submitted; wildlife officials moving forward as if the mule deer will ultimately be determined positive for CWD.

Traditional firearms hunt opens on Nov. 27.

Participation numbers were down, but those who did hunt experienced a record-high success rate of 13.1 percent.
