Crawlers and crankbaits are turning walleyes, but minnows, especially larger chubs and redtails, are starting to produce more consistently.
Walleyes are being caught using a few different techniques.
It was a yo-yo kind of week. We got a lot thrown at us – from lake types, to changes in weather, to changes in fish behavior. Late-summer patterns continue and emerge.
Walleye anglers continue to do best during low-light periods in shallow water mostly with crankbaits or with crawlers and minnows during the day.
Casting shorelines for smallmouth bass and pike is always a good option for those who like to mix it up.
Finding consistent patterns, and slowly – and surely – making our way toward late summer/early fall.
Bluegill action has been strong through most of the summer, but something flipped since last week.
Bluegill and largemouth bass action is strong with good reports coming from shallow and deep weeds or rocks.
In addition to many limits of eaters being caught around the lake, some really big walleyes are showing up as well.
