Slush might be the biggest hurdle these days. But if you have a wheelhouse …

Some effective colors this week have been pink, glow red, yellow and gold.
On Lake of the Woods, most anglers are sorting through numbers of small fish to find keepers, with the occasional larger slot or trophy walleye being caught in 30 to 34 feet.

Fishing has been good but with some obvious patterns emerging …

Hole-hopping and catching fish.

What it’s looking like on Lake Bemidji and area lakes.

Most fishing is taking place in 25 to 32 feet of water. As is common this time of year, fish are moving deeper.

The ice is shaping up pretty well in the Grand Rapids area. Most of the slush pockets are freezing up and travel has been better. The crappies have been biting pretty well.

Walleyes seem to be most active during low-light periods or overnight, and deadsticks with minnows seem to be most productive.
