With the Minnesota Fishing Opener looming, and water temps in upper 40s and lower 50s, here’s how to catch those walleyes.

Water temps are flirting with 60 degrees. The spring transition is progressing nicely and the fish continue to hold in their appropriate patterns. Oh, and the Minnesota Fishing Opener is less than a week away,

Heading into this weekend’s fishing opener, you should expect to find walleyes in shallow water.

The nice weather late last week, over the weekend, and this week also seemed to jump start spring crappie and bluegill fishing opportunities.

With nicer weather on the way, look for crappies and sunfish to be staged just outside those traditional spring locations, but expect them to start making a big push to the shallows as water temperatures

With several nice weather days at the end of last week, anglers were getting out in the southern half of the state and starting to catch a few crappies from open water.

There were some pretty good crappie reports this week in areas with open water. Lakes such as Minnetonka, Waconia, and others around the Twin Cities area have started producing crappies and a few bluegills, which
