Today, this smallish 396-acre lake is one of the finest bass and crappie waters in the state.

The panfish that swim in Blackduck are worth fishing for. They’re highlighted by trophy-caliber bluegills and crappies, along with some pods of jumbo-sized perch.

And anecdotes shared by anglers point to even more good news on the bass front.

If Plum Lake has a history of being known for producing trophy walleyes and muskies, it should also be known more recently for producing hefty smallmouth bass.

And while there isn’t much for traditional walleye structure, Strawberry does have some rock substrate, and it holds a lot of smallmouth bass.

Master Angler records show that Glen lake produces trophy-sized perch, smallmouth bass, rock bass and lake trout.

And this 843-acre, old canal lake is loaded with bluegills, crappies, saugeyes, channel catfish and largemouth bass.

Usually by the time mid-October arrives, a long fishing peak is starting or already flourishing at Buffalo Creek.

Crappies and bluegills run good-sized here, while its largemouth bass are numerous, although less impressive in the size category.
