Walleyes have fast become Michigan’s most popular game fish species, and savvy anglers are always looking for new hot spots producing excellent catches.

Little Grassy, a 1,000-acre lake tucked in the south corner of Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge, appears to be clamping down on its reputation as one of southern Illinois’ largemouth bass hot spots.

Steeped in fly-fishing history, the Neversink River in the southeastern corner of New York remains a top destination for trout anglers in this tributary of the Delaware River.

Clark’s walleye growth rates run above state average, but there aren’t a lot of large walleyes in the lake.

While the lake has been stocked with walleye fry intermittently, its ability to naturally produce the fish is most responsible for the exceptional numbers.
