John Rogner is leaving his post as DNR’s assistant director to return to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Chronic wasting disease found in a DuPage County deer represents the first CWD case there, expanding the list of Illinois counties with a positive case from 10 to 11.

DNR confirmed today that Assistant Director of DNR John Rogner is leaving the agency next month

A full year after it was officially scored, the deer shot by Jason Sanders is still mistakenly referred to as “The World Record 8-point buck.”

Rather than a “fiscal cliff,” DNR late last year found itself facing a “fiscal slope” – one that took years to descend, but one that was destined to sink the agency into a deep hole

With roughly two weeks left in the archery season for deer and turkeys, bowhunters across the state are poised to match harvest totals from 2011-12.

Although no wild populations of the ring-necked pheasant exist in Illinois south of Interstate 70, downstate hunters have had an annual opportunity to pursue this elegant bird.

Bowhunters are turning to does to fill out their tags, according to the most recent harvest update provided by DNR.
