Lake Ontario: Many of the salmon have made their way into the estuaries or river mouths. Fishing on the lake has really started to wind down because of it. Salmon being taken around river mouths
Cayuga Lake: Little has changed from the last report. Vertical jigging has been working for lake trout, with fish being found in 65-110 feet of water. Trolling down 70-80 feet over 100-160 feet of water
Not hearing a lot on the fishing front with trout season now closed and most sportsmen turning their attention to the hunting seasons, including the Northern Zone muzzleloader deer and bear opener Oct. 19.
The saltwater fishing has been excellent. Blackfish season opened on Oct. 5 and many tackle shops reported blackfish to 7 pounds being caught on the South Shore reefs and inshore wrecks, and on the reefs
