It has been a bit of a struggle lately, but some lakes have been producing some nice walleyes. Trolling with crankbaits or spinners have been the main successful methods.

Bass and panfish seem to be a bigger priority for anglers. Here’s Minnesota’s fishing report across the state on Aug. 5, 2026.

Numbers of bass are being caught along the bank from Artpark to the Coast Guard station. The best action was on the Niagara Bar, with crayfish presented on a three-way rig or drop-shot rig.
